Getting Around Prague by Taxi
All conference venues are accessible by taxi
Prague has a well-developed ride-hailing scene, and we strongly recommend using an app-based service to avoid overcharging by taxis.
Uber is the familiar global option — most international visitors will already have the app installed and a payment method set up, making it the most convenient choice straight off the plane. Pricing is transparent and shown upfront before you confirm the ride. If you arrive by plane, there are Uber cars waiting in front of the Airport.
Liftago is the popular local Czech alternative to Uber and worth downloading if you plan to take multiple rides during your stay. It works by sending your request to a network of licensed Prague taxi drivers who compete for your fare, often resulting in competitive prices. The price is fixed upfront. Many locals prefer it to Uber, and drivers tend to know the city exceptionally well. The app and payment in it is easy to set up through Google Play app and has an English version.

You can buy tickets at the airport and in the bus. If you plan to use public transport more regurarly we recommend buing 24 or 72 hours tickets. You can buy tickets from the vending machines, through the Prague transport app Lítačka, or (with your credit card) directly from the terminals located in bus or tram vehicles (these are not available in Subway cars, you already need a valid ticket before entering the subway area). We recommend reading the infomation provided below
Currency
Currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (CZK). Euro is accepted in many restaurants, hotels and shops. Payment with credit card is always a solution. Exchange rates are approximately 27 CZK/EUR and 21 CZK/USD.
Lunch
The Conference fee does not cover your lunch, so concerning lunch you are on your own. The conference venue is in the middle of the city, there are plenty of dining options around. Basically, in whatever direction you take you will soon find a couple of restaurants. We will recommend some of them to you in Prague.

Czech time in summer is GMT + 2 (summer time).

Two ATMs (Komerční banka and Česká spořitelna) are located at the exit of the metro station Staroměstká (from Kaprova Street).

We strongly recommend participants to carry a travel and health insurance. Such an insurance is not included in the registration fee.

- General Emergency: 112
- Fire Department: 150
- Medical Services: 155
- Police: 158

The voltage is 220 V with frequency of 50 KHz.

Exchanging Money
If you want to change your currency into Czech crowns we strongly recommend using the map of honest exchange places here. You need to bring cash, you cannot buy Czech Crowns with your credit card.
Bad exchange rates targeting tourist used to be another problem in Prague.
Paying by credit cards is quite standard in Prague. Not very often, some pubs or coffee places insist on cash payments so simply ask in advance before ordering. If you are not sure about the exchange rate of your bank, Revolut or a similar such service is not a bad idea. Also when simply withdrawing Czech cash from an ATM machine, check the exchange rate that the machine offers - paying directly with your with credit card - that is using the exchange rate of your credit card bank is often a better option.
